Journey to India – A reconciliation with the unconscious.

In India the sacred cows are on every street corner, most often bulls in fact, because the cows are in protected courtyards, sheltered. These presences that walk, stroll,
appear behind a tuktouk, jostle you in the crowd,
have been for me a daily confrontation with my fears.
Dichotomy of my feelings and those of the people around me:
for them they are the incarnation of the Goa Mata, the Universal mother
and the sacred.
For me, a Mediterranean woman, these bulls are imposing, frightening.
seeming the dark force, the threat from the dark side of our impulses,
of which they would be the massive, hairy, ballsy, horned incarnations.
Reading Jung accompanied me during this work.
I associated them with the Minotaur, with the dark matter of my anxieties,
as if she were incarnate,
alive, moving under the eyes of all.
And beauty…accepted by all, better!…sacred and revered.
I associated them with the Minotaur, guardian of the labyrinth
that we must, as human beings, travel to meet
our fears, our strengths, to identify them, confront them, overcome them or make a pact
in order to reach the center of ourselves, with a liberated spirit.
I systematically looked at them, approached them, photographed them
in order to stage them as objects giving to see this invisible.
and…I liked them because you have to cherish yourself and your beings.
They fascinated me, almost all of rare beauty, and also, moreover,
most often, in the end, with a gentleness and a calm
that give hope in the outcome of the effort.
We can see the mark of the sacred with which they are haloed.
