In Greece … SEA … SUN … FREEDOM … Campaign WORKSHOP

Tumbled on the beach

It’s like a game, a very serious game.
A derisory game, a tragic game.
And as well, a welfare, happiness, sunshine game.
Actually mostly a kind of tragic laugh.
In Greece, in the island of Aegina in the south of Athens.
The title gives the princip.
Speaking about ecologic stuff and sculpture free from
art history, apart maybe pauvere art.
Also the artistic gesture is guided by the feeling of freedom
one’s get when one dont have nil more to lose.
It’s like a game, a very serious game.
A derisory game, a tragic game.
And as well, a welfare, happiness, sunshine game.
Actually mostly a kind of tragic laugh.
So, I use material I hunt for on the beach.
As a matter of fact, one’s found mostly plastic, everywhere.
Nearly more plastic than sand, which is so, so sad, and makes such
a contrast with the beauty of the landscape.
It’s a constant emotional lift.
The heart swings between antagonistic feelings.
Most often makes me nauseous, wana sob and scream.
Both feelings are very strong, the noseous and the wonder.

About plastic, I lead a biased approach on my work,
which tends to highlight the plastic presence in the sea, especially the Mediterranne

It is biased cause I can’t endure being beset by plastic stuff

in my work and house environment, it’s beyond my strength.
I hate the material plastic mostly which deeply disgusted me
by its cheapness, longevity, pregnancy and noxious presence everywhere.
I hate it also maybe because of the culpability it’s brought on my mind.
Indeed  because I can also recognize my today gestures,
light a cigarette, my shoe soles, the sunscreen bottle…
in fact all my gesture – even if I’m trying to be no west –
and all the gestures of everyone on this planet tumbling on the beach.
We are all involved…and prisoners…how to escape ?
And it’s a dizzying observation.
Something to be seen with a submersion of life by chemical death.
An « I can’t breath » for all the living…
So is it really our common destiny ?
It seems to…
Will we be able to break this curse we have been created ?

So, anyway, I try to find and  select the unbelievable

forms and materials that are thrown out every day by the sea.
It demands more visual acuity cause there are almost any organic elements left.
I have to confess this part of hunting forms and material gives everyday me great pleasure.
