“I can’t breathe“
These terrible words,
emblematic of the year 2020,
these words, the sob
give off on Earth now.
Our hyper crank
hyper-productivity, hyper consumption,
put our planet to death,
ecology and closely related social causes.
The series is about plastic pollution,
the terrorism of polluters,
of their blind violence,
our complicity, our guilt,
and beyond, awareness, resilience, creative wisdom.
How did this series come about ?
…In October, carried by the wind of the Covid,
I landed without premeditation, but happily
on a island south of Athens,
shortly before the 2nd containment.
Wonder, joy, serenity in front of the sea,
the blue, the mountains and the calm of this island
…But…impossible to remain calm these days.
Here, on the beaches, between the rocks,
more plastic, polystyrene grains than sand.
The sublime transparency of these waters
violated by pollution raises crises of solastalgia.
We can’t forget anything in no places…
